Nature Care - Healing Power of Colours | Colour therapy for different diseases

Chromotherapy is a method of treating diseases by color, it is used as an adjunct therapy along with other natural ways of protecting health such as proper diet, proper rest, exercise, yoga postures, etc.

According to chromotherapy practitioners, the cause of any disease can be traced back to a specific color deficiency in the human system. Color therapy is a technique of restoring imbalance by applying colored light to the body. It was also a popular method of treatment in ancient times. About 2,500 years ago, Pythagoras applied color light for healing, and in ancient Egypt, China, and India, color halls were used for healing.

The founder of modern color therapy was Niels Finsen of Denmark. Following the discovery, in 1877, of the bactericidal action of solar ultra-violet energy, Finsen studied the possibility of helping to heal wounds with visible light. He later used red light to prevent the formation of smallpox scars and, in 1896, founded the Light Institute (now the Finnsen Institute of Copenhagen) for the photo treatment of tuberculosis. In 1932, two California psychologists, Gerard and Hayes, scientifically established that blue light has a calming effect on humans and red is a stimulating force.

The colors blue and red are considered to be the two extremes along with the yellow representing the midpoint, they are also the three main colors of the rainbow. A patient is first examined to find out what color he or she does not have. Deficiencies are determined by looking at the color of the eyeballs, nails, urine, and feces. In cases of red deficiency, eyes and nails will turn blue, and urine and feces will turn white or blue. If there is a lack of blue, the eyes and nails will be red, and the urine and feces will be yellow or red.

Methods of treatment
There are two ways to treat diseases by color: (i) using light through different colored mirrors;  And (ii) by external or internal use of color-charged water.

In the first method, glass sheets, 30 cm x 36 cm, are required colors.  They are placed on window frames or in other convenient places so that the sun's rays can pass through them and fall directly on the patient's body.  The usual duration of color treatment is 30 minutes.  In the case of local application, a glass pan can be placed in front of the diseased area so that the light passing through the glass falls on the affected area.  Lanterns at night can be used for this purpose.  A lantern can have four different colored glass pans and the desired color can be focused on the patient or the affected area.

In the second method, colored bottles are required.  These bottles should be cleaned and filled with up to three-fourths of fresh well water, distilled water, or rainwater.  Bottles should be corked and then exposed to intense sunlight for three to four hours.  After this exposure, the water is said to have medicinal properties and this color-charged water can be used for indoor and outdoor applications.  Wounds and boils can be washed off with this water and can also be used to massage the affected areas or apply compresses to them.  For internal use, an adult 30 ml.  Of color-charged water as a diet.  The dose can be repeated as needed.

Diet
A proper and balanced diet is essential in the treatment of diseases through chromotherapy.  Patients should consume similarly colored foods.  Different foods contain different colors:

Red: Beets, radishes, red cabbage, tomatoes, watercress, mostly red-skinned fruits, red berries, and watermelon.

Orange: Orange-skinned vegetables and fruits such as carrots, oranges, apricots, mangoes, peaches, and papayas.

Violet: Eggplant, berries, black carrots, and purple grapes.

Yellow: lime and lemon, sweet lime, grape, pumpkin, watermelon, banana, mango, yellow apple, and guava.

Purple: Foods that are both blue and violet.

Greens: Most green vegetables and fruits such as gourds, spinach, bananas, lettuce, peas, green mangoes, carols, pears, legumes, etc.

Blue: Blue plums, blue beans, blue grapes, etc.

Contraception
There are some important contraindicated to color treatment that should be kept in mind when adopting this method of treatment.  For example, red would be detrimental to the naturally inflammatory state of the system, and in the case of individuals with a fever and irritability.  If the red light is used for too long and too often, it can cause a dangerous fever.  The danger can be averted by using a red light for a few minutes at a time or by applying a damp bandage on the head.

Similarly, yellow should not be used when the nerves are very active or irritated.  Yellow or orange-red tones can be harmful in any condition of fever, severe inflammation, soreness, diarrhea, neuralgia, heart palpitations, and over-stimulation.

In paralysis, chronic rheumatism, arthritis, and all the cold, pale, and dull conditions of the system, blue, blue, and violet can be very cold and constricting and should be avoided.
